Thames Hospital

Solving special safety issues

Relocating the Thames Hospital Radiology Department required relocation, demolition and construction of new facilities.

Maintaining services and meeting hospital health and safety requirements presented a special challenge, with a significant number of shutdown and isolation works. The construction team was faced with special safety issues including X-rays and X-ray development chemicals.

The new Radiology Department required special lead-impregnated Gib X-Board linings, special plaster for stopping and lead wrapping of all electrical sockets and other openings to protect staff and patients against X-ray radiation.
