Building the nineteenth hole

Set amid some of the most stunning scenery on the Coromandel Peninsula, Lakes Resort Pauanui is proud of its international golf course. And its owners chose Stanley Construction to build a clubhouse worthy of the setting.

As well as amenities for members – including the obligatory pro shop – the clubhouse includes a restaurant, bar and other facilities designed for broader use, such as hosting weddings and conferences.

The Stanley project team readily met many challenges, including overlapping design and building processes. To ensure on-time completion by Christmas, work continued around the clock in the final weeks.

Time was saved in other ways. The pyramid-style roof sections were
built in the car park while their concrete support columns were still under construction.

“Stanley’s construction process expertise and particularly project control enabled the development to be completed on time,” says project architect Bruce Scott.

“The company was excellent to work with and certainly met the challenge of an evolving project being carried out in a short construction timeframe.”
